Coimbatore : Police have arrested 8 Hindu outfit members in Coimbatore for attempting to burn the effigy of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, this morning here.
Hindu outfits in Kerala and Tamil Nadu are involved in a series of protests against the state government of Kerala for giving protection and allowing two women into the Sabarimala temple.
Meanwhile, Naam Hindukkal Katchi members conducted a protest against the Kerala State government near Singanallur, Uzhavar Santhai here.
During the protest, they attempted to burn the effigy of Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan which was deterred by Police.
Based on special Sub-Inspector Halan’s complaint, the Singanallur police registered a case against them under Sections 147, 353, 506 (i), 285 read with 511 of the IPC.
Following this, Police have arrested 8 persons including Karthik, district chief of the Naam Hindukkal Katchi, Youth wing leader of the party Lotus Manikandan, Secretary of the Party Kanagaraj and Youth wing secretary of the party Gowtham.
All 8 were lodged at prison after being produced before court.
