Tirupur: A Tirupur Court sentenced two persons to three years for damaging a TNSTC government bus in the aftermath of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s death in 2012.
Tirupur: A Tirupur Court sentenced two persons to three years for damaging a TNSTC government bus in the aftermath of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s death in 2012.
Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray died in 2012 and in the aftermath of his death protests erupted at different parts of the country. According to police, Maheshkumar and Mahendran from Sukumar Nagar near Pulavadi pelted stones at a government bus on Kangeyam Road and damaged its front mirror. Based on the complaint of the bus driver, Tirupur South police registered a case against the accused.
Hearing the case, Judge Jiahudeen sentenced the accused to three months for using foul language in public, three years for damaging public property and a fine of Rs 5000 each. The convicts are lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
