The accused came to a grocery store at Arupadai Nagar near Podanur and snatched the chain before making good their escape.
According to police, two men who came in a motorcycle went into the shop asking for cigarettes. They snatched the 7- sovereign gold chain from Amutha (37), wife of Pandian, the owner of the shop before escaping from the spot.
The couple who run the grocery store filed a complaint with Podanur police and police have launched a manhunt to nab the chain snatchers.
