Coffee cultivation has been taken up by farmers as a main crop, both by small and marginal coffee growers since the seasonal rains which lashed the Nilgiris proved beneficial for the crop. Farmers are happy that the yield is fetching them good returns in the wholesale market and the remunerative price of up to Rs.150 per kg has indeed made them jubilant.

Coffee is grown all around the season in Nilgiris and widely planted in Coonoor, Ooty, Pandalur, Gudalur, Kuntha and Chinna Coonoor.
