Ten huts gutted by fire in Mettupalayam

Coimbatore: Ten huts in a row in Mettupalayam were burned down due to the explosion of a cylinder in one of the huts.


Coimbatore: Ten huts in a row in Mettupalayam were burned down due to the explosion of a cylinder in one of the huts. 

According to reports, a total of 10 families were residing in 11 huts at a private banana farm in  Odanthurai, near Black Thunder resort in Mettupalayam. These families run roadside shops to earn their livelihood, and while they were away, a cylinder in one of the houses exploded suddenly. The fire rapidly spread to the neighbouring huts due to which cylinders in the remaining huts also exploded. 



On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the fires. All the huts, including valuables and money were burned to ashes in the fire. The Mettupalayam police have registered a case and commenced investigation.
