Tirupur: DVAC officials arrested a Block Development Officer red-handed while accepting Rs.15,000 as bribe today. Officials are investigating.

According to officials, Rajendran alias Centering Rajendran from Dharapuram has applied with Udumalai Panchayat Union office for approvals of a house plan. Ramesh Kumar, Block Development Officer here has allegedly demanded Rs.15,000 from Rajendran to sanction the plan. Rajendran complained with Tirupur DVAC officials and they decided to set a trap. 

Rajendran handed over phenolphthalein laced currency notes to Ramesh Kumar and a five-member team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Ravichandran arrested Ramesh Kumar red-handed. DVAC officials are investigating. Officials have been receiving various corruption complaints regarding the office.
