Dindigul: The inmates of a private fertility center functioning in Palani have been traumatized by worm-infested food being served to them on a regular basis.
Subbulakshmi (38), wife of Satheesh of Thirunagar near Palani has been undergoing treatment in the fertility clinic for the past six months and was shell-shocked when worms wriggled in the food being served to her. According to her husband Satheesh, the childless couple had stayed in the clinic for the past six months hoping that Subbulakshmi would get pregnant.
However, the food which is prepared in unhygienic conditions has been infested with worms making it inedible. "When I reported this incident to hospital authorities, they behaved in a rude manner,” says Satheesh.

However, following the complaint by Satheesh and his wife, food safety officials seized many grocery items that were past expiry date from the hospital kitchen and warned the authorities of the clinic. “The food safety officials should file a case against the hospital authorities who had served unhygienic food to the female patients who have been staying in the clinic just in the hope of giving birth to a child,” lamented some of the affected patients.
