The Hindu outfits had called for a state-wide 'dawn-to-dusk' 12 hours hartal in Kerala, in protest against the entry of two women into the Sabarimala temple. Condemning their entry into the temple, hundreds of Hindu Makkal Katchi members in the city held a rally till the railway station, attempting to stage a rail roko.

Even as police restrained them, they staged a road roko and raised slogans against the Communist party and the Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan. The police then arrested them.

Similarly, advocates of the BJP party staged a protest in front of the Court premises while members of the Hanuman Sena protested in front of the District Collectorate.
