Coimbatore : The TNSTC (Coimbatore division) will operate as many as 110 Pongal special bus services from January 10 onward, in order to facilitate city dwellers to reach all parts of the state.
According to a TNSTC official, the special services would be operated to all major towns including Chennai, Tiruchy, Madurai, Rameshwaram, Theni and Thoothukudi, as well as other towns.
"Since a large number of people have migrated to the city to work in various sectors, the buses are being operated to facilitate them to reach their hometown for the Pongal festivities," said the TNSTC official.
He added, “We would also increase the additional services as and when the need arises during the Pongal season. The special services would continue until the Pongal rush gets over."
