Coimbatore : The long pending SIHS Colony rail overbridge works may begin soon as landowners here have agreed to the take reasonable compensation rates offered by the State Government.
In a meeting presided by Minister for Local Administration S.P Velumani, the landowners agreed to accept reasonable compensation rates from the government. SIHS Colony rail overbridge was announced in 2012 and in 2014, the landowners sought a stay from the High Court against the project demanding better rates for their land.
Following the meeting, the landowners and government have decided to compensate the landowners according to the High Court’s direction and vacate the stay on the project. Authorities said that the Rs 21.16 crore project would be completed as early as possible once the stay is vacated. Senior district administration officials took part in the meeting.
