Tirupur: Tirupur MP Sathyabhama visited Union Aviation Minister Suresh Prabu recently and requested him to increase International services at Coimbatore Airport.
In her petition to the Union Minister, Sathyabhama requested that the Ministry should take measures to increase the number of international flights from Coimbatore. She also demanded that an International cargo complex should also be set up at the Airport.
The Parliamentarian said that knitwear exporters in Tiruppur are severely affected due to the lack of development at the Airport. She mentioned that due to lack of cargo facilities at Coimbatore Airport, exporters are forced to send their goods via Bengaluru or Chennai Airport costing them money and time. She added that such measures would also help in increasing women employment in the Industry.
