More than 50 families who were residing in the Mettuvalavu area which comes under the 34th ward of the Tirupur Corporation were asked to evacuate their houses for road extension work and were assured with new houses by the Slum Clearance Board.

They were also provided with receipts for house allocation in the residential apartments at Veerapandi in Tirupur. Meanwhile, it is alleged that people who got houses allocated had suddenly received a notice seeking payment of Rs 1.08 lakhs.
