Officials said that the organic fertilizers produced at the yard will be distributed at subsidized prices to farmers. District Collector J Innocent Divya said, “Nearly 4 tonnes of organic fertilizers can be produced from waste collected in the district.
The ban on 19 different plastic items in the district is being implemented successfully and awareness is being created amongst shopkeepers about it.” She added that Nilgiris is prepared to handle the plastic ban from January 1.
Rajya Sabha MP K.R Arjunan, Coonoor MLA Shanthi Ramu, Udhagamandalam MLA Ganeshan were also present during the event.
