To maintain law and order in the District during the celebrations, 1200 police personnel led by the City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan, have been deployed at various places in the city. About 800 police personnel led by the Superintendent of Police for Coimbatore Rural, R Pandiarajan were deployed in the rural areas including Mettupalayam, Pollachi and the outskirts of the districts.
The police have imposed various restrictions on star hotels while conducting cultural events. The police will be involved in vehicle checks at 22 spots in the District to prevent rash driving and nab drunk motorists. The police have warned that immediate and stern action will be taken against law violators.
