Coimbatore : The Coimbatore City Police seized sharp objects from prisoners in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
Around 50 police personnel comprising the city police, inspectors and the prison police, led by the Assistant Police Commissioner, Sundararajan, conducted a surprise check at the Central prison here, yesterday.
During the check which commenced at 4.30 pm and went on till 7 pm yesterday, the police conducted a search in all the places, including the prison premises and all rooms. Police also investigated prisoners who they were suspicious of.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was also involved in the search. During the search, police found that some prisoners had shaped food plates into a sharp object and kept them hidden. The police confiscated all the sharp objects and proceeded to continue their investigation with the prisoners.
