Farmers from several districts in Tamil Nadu have been protesting since December 17 against the Centre's proposal of erecting high voltage transmission towers in agricultural fields.
They expressed their opposition by staging various forms of novel protest including a hunger strike, for the past eight days.
Earlier, the farmers announced a massive rally on January 3 from Chepauk guest house till TN Assembly in Chennai to show their disppproval. They also apprised that more than 5,000 farmers will take part in the rally in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Rajamani, Farmers President gave fruit juices to the farmers and ended the hunger strike. He also announced to withdraw the ongoing 'waiting' protest which commenced on December 17.
