Skill Development Center of Excellence inaugurated at Tirupur

Tirupur : Dr. K P Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship inaugurated the Center of Excellence at Tirupur. The Center has been set up at a cost of Rs.2 crores under the aegis of the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Tirupur : Dr. K P Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship inaugurated the Center of Excellence at Tirupur. The Center has been set up at a cost of Rs.2 crores under the aegis of the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. 

These Centres will basically be involved in research work on the Apparel Manufacturing Technology and Processes, and will be conducting short-term Management Development Programmes (MDPs) and Supervisory Development Programmes (SDP) for the managerial and supervisory resources in apparel manufacturing units for the purpose of productivity enhancement.

In addition to this, the Training of Trainer (TOT) and the Training of Assessor (TOA) programmes shall also be conducted at these centers. The duration of the courses will be about three days. The perceived benefits to the industry would be reduced cost, increased efficiency, reduced risk, talent management, outsourcing,

offshoring, career advancement etc. The CoEs will function on ‘Paid model’ and the industry will pay for the courses being run there.
