Coimbatore : MLA. N. Karthik of Singanallur constituency petitioned the CCMC Commissioner today, to avert busy neighborhoods and school grounds within the city corporation limits for setting up solid waste management segregation facilities.

Coimbatore : MLA. N. Karthik of Singanallur constituency petitioned the CCMC Commissioner today, to avert busy neighborhoods and school grounds within the city corporation limits for setting up solid waste management segregation facilities.

Speaking to the media, the MLA pointed that "Without taking into consideration the inconvenience forced upon the residents, the city corporation has ear-marked highly populated residential areas, spaces meant for parks and playgrounds to set up solid waste disposal facility".

“Perhaps, the city corporation officials could plan to use the utility areas and reserve sites in the city outskirts for such purposes", he opined.

When reporters questioned, if he has any particular location to set up such facility, the MLA said "The corporation has zone-wise data on reserve sites and moreover, it is the duty of the corporation officials to pinpoint fitting sites".

"If I make a suggestion, the ruling party members would be interested only in opposing it", he remarked.
