Coimbatore : Condemning against the setting up of a sewage treatment plant in their area, the residents of Kathiravan Nagar here, petitioned the District Collectorate today.
Speaking on this, the residents said, "More than 400 families are residing in our area. Sewage in our area are being released through sewage soak pit. Meanwhile, sewage from other areas are also released into this drain, thereby affecting the environment. Adding to these woes, attempts are being made to construct a sewage treatment plant by demolishing the Anganwadi functioning on the seven and a half-cent public space in our locality", the residents alleged.
The residents of Kathiravan Nagar which falls under the 95th ward also urged that the District administration should intervene and initiate immediate action to stop the construction of sewage treatment plant.
