Tirupur : Members of Arunthathiyar community petitioned at Tirupur Collectorate today demanding crematorium facilities for their community.

Tirupur : Members of Arunthathiyar community petitioned at Tirupur Collectorate today demanding crematorium facilities for their community.

The residents lamented that "The people of our community (Arunthathiyar) living near Maravapalayam lack proper burial ground facilities, hence are forced to bury the dead along the roadside. Previously, the place we were using for burial purpose is in a very poor state. Covered with tall standing shrubs and plants, we are even unable to access the place".

"Fearing lack of safety and adequate basic facilities, the families are skeptical to use the place for burial. Instead, opt the road sides to bury the departed", they noted.

The petitioners demanded the district administration should consider their plea and provide adequate lighting and compound wall for the burial site.
