Coimbatore : People residing in Kasthurba Nagar near Ganapathy petitioned at District Collectorate demanding ban against installing cell phone towers in their area.
In their petition to District Collector T.N Hariharan, the residents said that over 250 families are residing in the area and one of the residents, Santhigovindaraj has signed a contract with a service provider to erect cell phone at their house.
The residents opined that radiation from the tower could cause health hazards to the residents living in close proximity to the tower. Hence, demanded the district administration to intervene in the issue and initiate action to stop erection of the tower.
