Minister for Local Administration S.P Velumani inaugurated the works today and CCMC Commissioner Dr. K Vijayakarthikeyan and senior CCMC officials were present during the event. A release said that the desilting work is supported and sponsored by Baker & Huges - A GE Oil & Gas Company. Vanitha Mohan Managing Trustee of Siruthuli was also present during the event.
Siruthuli stated that the repair works will be to strengthen the bunds and surplus weir and also to clean the pond bed which is otherwise lying dry and barren by leveling the undulations and shrubs. The pond which was not receiving inflows during rains as the inlets are chocked will be cleared in this work to facilitate storage of water.
