Subsidies announced to set up Off-shore fish farms

The District Collector's office has called for applications from farmers and interested people from Coimbatore district to set off-shore fishery ponds in farmlands. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has announced back-ended subsidy for setting up fish ponds in agricultural lands.

Under the NADP Scheme, those who set-up a fish seed pond for Rs.5 lakhs per hectare, a subsidy of Rs.2 lakhs per hectare along with Rs.10,000 towards fish seedlings will be provided under the scheme. Applicants should own a hectare of land or at least should have leased the land for 10 yrs will be eligible to apply for the subsidy.
