Chennai : Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has announced that his party Makkal Needhi Maiyam will contest in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections.

Addressing the media today, Kamal Haasan said that he is also open to talks with like-minded parties to strike an alliance before the polls. However, he said that he would not have any truck with political parties who want to change the DNA of Tamil Nadu and Tamil culture. It may be recalled that Kamal Haasan had earlier ruled out an alliance with the Dravidian majors DMK and AIADMK.

The actor is busy touring the State to strengthen his party at the grassroots level since floating his political outfit in February earlier this year. Commenting on his party's entry into the electoral arena, Kamal Haasan said, "My party will have an alliance with parties who focus on the developmental agenda of Tamil Nadu."
