Coimbatore : Following Madras High Court directions, the city police arrested eight persons today for erecting illegal hoardings and digital banners at various parts of the city.
The Madras High Court passed a interim order recently and restrained all political parties from erecting digital banners and hoardings in arterial roads that would pose risk to motorists. The Court also strongly criticised government officials for not implementing court orders and turning a blind eye towards violation of banner rules.
The city police arrested Navas (40), Iliyas (36), Madhan (56), Prabhuraj (40), Thambu (46), Thamaraiselvan (27), Abin (35) and Vignesh (27) for erecting hoardings illegally at Gandhipuram bus stand, Lajpatrai Street, Nethaji Road, Women's polytechnic college, Race Course and various other places.
