Coimbatore: The City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan announced that 40 police personnel have been newly appointed to regulate traffic at important junctions in the city.
Coimbatore: The City Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan announced that 40 police personnel have been newly appointed to regulate traffic at important junctions in the city.

"On Avinashi Road, the Lakshmi Mills junction, Pioneer Mill Road junction, Hope College Signal and Singanallur junction on Trichy Road were identified as traffic-prone spots. Sivanandhapuram on Sathy Road, Thudiyalur Pirivu at Saravanampatti, Vysial Street on Perur Road, Lanka Corner, NSR Junction on Thadagam Road, Flower Market and Sundarapuram junction on Pollachi Road were also identified as traffic congestion spots. 40 additional police have been appointed to regulate traffic at all the above mentioned 14 spots, both in the mornings and evenings.
The public in and around Kuniyamuthur have come forward to install CCTVs in their houses and commercial complexes. A total of 177 CCTVs were installed in residential areas and commercial buildings in Kuniyamuthur.
A control room is to be opened at Coimbatore West Zone to connect these CCTVs with those installed at Podanur and its surrounding areas. If all goes as planned, more control rooms will subsequently be opened at important junctions in the city.
