Chennai: Actor and Producer Vishal was arrested by the police when he tried to break into the office of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TFPC) even as a faction war broke out between two groups comprising of producers and members of the Council.

According to sources, one faction of the TFPC members locked down the premises in T Nagar and Anna Salai on Wednesday, protesting against the mismanagement of the film body by Vishal, the incumbent President. Vishal who took exception to the action of the rival faction tried to storm into the office with his supporters on Thursday by trying to break the lock to enter, even though the police who were posted there in strength tried to dissuade him from doing so. However, when Vishal refused to relent and argued with the policemen who were deployed to prevent any clash between the two factions, the police detained him and took him away in the police van.

It is said that one faction of producers have demanded the resignation of Vishal as President of TFPC and met the Chief Minister, Edapadi Palanisamy, seeking his support for their demand.
