In the 50th tea auction that held was held in Coonoor, 1,84,380 kg of tea leaves and 1,46,665 kg of dust variety were auctioned. When compared to last action, 10,000 kg of tea was additionally auctioned. Reports day, 99.90% leaf and dust varieties were sold during the auction.
"The average price of the tea sold in the auction was Rs. 89.22 per kg. As, the price of tea had fallen upto Rs. 5 per kg in comparison with the past two auctions. Hence, we expect better price in the upcoming auctions", the farmers expressed.
