The herd has been roaming at areas close to Manjoor like Thuthurmattam, Animan and nearby areas. The elephants have been camping in the region for the past few days and the animals damaged agricultural produce like beans in the area. Though Kundha forest officials tried to chase away the animals into forest, the herd moved into tea estates near Kuriyamalai. Tea workers here are panicked and they haven’t plucked tea leaves for the past few days. Forest officials are engaged in efforts to chase away the herd into forest.
