Coimbatore: Members of Makkal Adhikaram protested at Tatabad today demanding the State government to enact a separate law to ensure permanent closure of the Sterlite plant in Tuticorin.
The members condemned the recent order by National Green Tribunal allowing Vedanta Resources to resume operations at Sterlite Copper factory in Tuticorin. The protesters demanded the State government pass a separate law to shutdown the plant and they alleged that the State government didn’t take proper legal steps to shutdown the plant.
Over 20 members were arrested by police for protesting without permission.
