Coimbatore: Based on orders from the District Superintendent of Police, R Pandiarajan, the District Collector Hariharan passed orders to detain three repeat offenders who are already lodged in the Central Prison here, under the Goondas Act.

Murugesan alias Pon Murugesan (39) of Radhapuram near Tirunelveli and Rajasekar alias Mohan (35) of Tennur near Trichy were arrested by Periyanaickenpalayam police in a murder case last month. Jegan alias Mophat Jegan (41) of Palladam Road in Tiruppur was arrested by the Mettupalayam police a few weeks ago, in connection to a crime case and was lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison. Following the DSP's order, a copy of the order was issued to the prison officials.
A total of 25 miscreants were arrested under the Goondas Act this year, which is high when compared to last year.
