Officials hold an anti-ragging meeting


A meeting was convened by the District Collector, T.N Hariharan at the Collectorate yesterday, to address on implementation of anti-ragging measures.

He briefed on the importance of practicing anti-ragging protocols set by the government at all educational institutions. He requested the college management to set a keen watch on the students to avoid unforeseen incidents like ragging. And also to install complaint boxes at their premise to facilitate students to reach the anti-ragging special cell at ease. 



Members from students community, social workers, psychiatrists and renowned educationalists will be part of the special cell formed to curb ragging. The colleges were asked to strictly abide to the University Grants Commission's anti-ragging guidelines.

The anti-ragging helpline number 8190000100 should be imprinted in all student ID cards so that they could access it immediately on needy times. The complaints received through the special cell will be handled at utmost confidentiality of the complainant, he assured.

He requested the colleges to conduct regular awareness campaigns on anti-ragging through mime shows, dramas etc., The students should also be educated on the legal implications, if involved in such untoward activities. 

The Deputy Commissioner of Law & Order, Lakshmi, District Revenue Officer, Christuraj, Deputy Collector Vijaylakshmi and Gayathrikrishnan, Sub-Collector, Priyanka and various government officials were during the meeting.
