City Commissioner alerts public on ATM fraudsters

City Commissioner Amalraj addressed the press on various pressing issues in the City.

He stated that needful measures have been initiated to annihilate the crime rates in the City. The recent burglaries, thefts, chain snatching issues have put the public in a state of panic.

He evoked on the ISIS terrorist incident located by the Police at Tiruppur. Hence, he urged that the house owners should verify the identities of the tenants, prior to renting. The Police have asked the residents association across the city to submit required identities of the residents like Aadhar, ration, driving license etc., and so far 5000 residents have submitted their forms, he revealed.

Starting from 2016, the Police have registered 225 cases against ATM frauds. Tricksters involved in ATM frauds target people through phones representing them as bank-appointed tele callers and lure the customers by special schemes and get their pin numbers. 

The fraudsters use the pin numbers and withdraw amounts between Rs. 5000 to 35,000/- Hence, he requested the public to stay alert on such felonious incidents.
