Police dog Diana bags bronze at state level competition

At a State level competition held in Chennai for the Police Personnel, Coimbatore's Police dog Diana won bronze.

Narcotics, bomb and crime detection were the three categories set for the police dogs to prove their talents. Totally, 62 dogs participated in the competition. Diana (8) won bronze, scoring 350/400 in the Narcotics category. She had been associated with the Coimbatore police dog squad dept for the past seven years in Narcotics detection and presently the only trained dog for all the eight districts. She won Gold in 2013, at a similar state-level event.

City Commissioner Amalraj appreciated Diana for her outstanding performance. The Police department have bought three new puppies Chaaral, Lyca and Wilma to replace Charu, Ammu and Chitra who are retiring from service this year. At present, Diana's health is not in good condition and hence specialised training for the three new puppies will commence soon, officials from Dog Squad stated.
