Participant dies due to mid-air fall while Parasailing at Codissia

An hour ago, a fall from mid-air has led to an unfortunate death of a participant at the Parasailing event jointly organised by Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) and Indian Aero Sports Science at Codissia grounds.

The participant fell down from mid-air and was severely injured. He was rushed to the nearby private hospital. He passed away while en route to the hospital succumbing to the injuries. He's been identified as Malleswara Rao, aged 53. He's been taken to the GH now for postmortem.

Eyewitness reports from Codissia grounds say that the safety parachute belt was not hooked properly and it wasn't checked while the participant was taken up.

At the start of the event, it was reported that all necessary safety measures have been ensured but ground reports from participants say that it's been unprofessionally handled.

The event was to commemorate the golden jubilee celebration of the Coimbatore Medical College.

We will keep you posted on this story as it develops.
