Jawans on their way to pay homage injured

Nine persons, including eight jawans attached to the Madras Regimental Center (MRC) at Wellington, The Nilgiris, suffered minor injuries when the private vehicle in which they were travelling went out of control while taking a hairpin bend and fell on the Kallatty Road on Monday.

Twenty-five soldiers from MRC were heading to Hassan in Karnataka on an official trip to pay homage to soldier T.T. Nagesha, one of the 10 soldiers who were killed at Siachen, as he was attached to MRC.

The injured were taken to the government hospital in Udhagamandalam and given first aid.

A medical team from the regimental centre at Wellington was also pressed to service. The police are investigating the case.
