Cut No Trees..

Nowadays cutting of trees for widening of road and construction of building have been normal with very fewer people bothered about it. But the scenario was entirely different on State Highway 19 A Tirupur to Vijaymangalam. A group of activist staged the protest and blocked roads against cutting of trees on the highway in the process of road widening.

The activists clearly stated that already two trees were cut and they will not allow more trees to be cut from the T.M.F. Hospital area to S. R. C. Mill, where widening works had been taken up as they are along the border of the road.

The Highway department has stated that they have cut only two trees that too after getting the permission from revenue department as they were a major hindrance in the road widening process from 7 metres to 11 metres and to offer two-lane traffic with the centre median.

The protest was resolved only after the revenue department officials and police officials intervened in the issue and gave assurance that no more trees would be cut further.
