Collector Inspects Desilting Works at Kurichi Dam Canal

Coimbatore District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar and Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran inspected desilting works on the 3.27 km canal connecting Kurichi Dam to Kurichi Lake to ensure unobstructed rainwater flow during monsoon season.


Coimbatore: District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar and Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran conducted an on-site inspection of the desilting works being carried out on the canal that carries water from Kurichi Dam to Kurichi Lake.






Following the guidelines of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, intensive desilting operations are being undertaken across water bodies including rainwater drains and canals in areas under Coimbatore Corporation jurisdiction to ensure unobstructed flow of rainwater during monsoon seasons.






As part of this initiative, comprehensive desilting works are underway in full swing on the water supply canal located on Puttuvikki Road, which carries water from the Kurichi Dam area on the Noyyal River to Kurichi Lake.






The Corporation is undertaking extensive work to remove water hyacinths and overgrown bushes along the approximately 3.27 km stretch of the canal to ensure unobstructed water flow during the monsoon season.




The District Collector and Corporation Commissioner personally visited the site to inspect these ongoing works. They instructed officials to expedite the completion of the canal desilting operations.




During this inspection, Assistant Commissioner Dakshanamurthy, Assistant Executive Engineer Kanakaraj, Assistant Engineer Visali, and other Corporation officials were present.
