A middle aged woman today attempted to immolate herself in protest against Mettupalayam Tahsildar, who allegedly issued a certificate for her patta land as puramboke.
The woman, Parameshwari from Annur, had come to meet the District Collector on Grievances Day and she suddenly removed a kerosene bottle from her bag and doused herself with it.
Before she could light a match, women police on duty overpowered and arrested her.
Further investigations were on, police said.
