Tusker electrocuted in Mettupalayam


In a shockingly tragic incident, a male elephant aged around 25 was electrocuted after it came into contact with an EB towerline at Nellithurai in Mettupalayam Range in Coimbatore District  on Wednesday.

According To forest officials, the  elephant was found dead at SVM Thottam at Nandavanaputhur in the early hours today.

The animal had entered the farm by trampling  a fence and even an arecanut tree before it came into contact with the EB towerline that was running along the farm.

The patta land where the accident happened is located 200 metres away from Sundapatti Beat of the Nellithurai Reserve Forest.
