25 file papers in Coimbatore

As many as 25 persons filed nomination before returning officers of nine of the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district on Monday – the second day for filing nomination papers.

Four persons filed nomination before the Returning Officer, Mettupalayam Assembly constituency and that included the candidate from the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi. Again, four persons filed their nomination before the Returning Officer, Sulur Assembly constituency and that included S.T. Manthrachalam of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In the Kavundampalayam Assembly constituency, four persons filed nominations. Communist Party of India-Marxist’s V. Ramamoorthy was one among the four. He had stated that his moveable assets were worth Rs. 8.40 lakh and immoveable assets were worth Rs. 6.20 crore. In the Thondamuthur Assembly constituency, an Indu Makkal Katchi nominee filed nomination.

In the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vanathi Srinivasan, CPI-M’s C. Padmanabhan and the CPI-M’s dummy candidate P.K. Sukumaran also filed their nominations. Ms. Srinivasan had stated that her moveable assets were worth Rs. 64.97 lakh and immoveable assets Rs. 4.60 crore.

Mr. Padmanabhan had stated that his moveable assets were worth Rs. 66,524 and immoveable assets Rs. 62.80 lakh.

In the Singanallur Assembly constituency, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam nominee A. Arjunraj filed his nomination before the returning officer. He had stated that his moveable assets were worth Rs. 1.15 crore and immoveable assets Rs. 1.25 crore.

In the Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency, Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi nominee S. Selvakumar, the party’s dummy candidate and another person filed their nomination.

In the Pollachi Assembly constituency, the BJP nominee, R. Sivakumar, and another person filed nominations.

In the Valparai Assembly constituency, there were four nominations and that included DMK nominee T. Palpandi.
