War Tensions Drive Coimbatore Tourists to Singapore, Malaysia Over Gulf Nations This Summer

Coimbatore International Airport witnesses surge in summer travelers choosing Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam over Gulf destinations due to Iran-Israel and Russia-Ukraine conflicts. Daily passenger count reaches 10,000 with affordable travel packages fueling international tourism growth across urban and rural populations.

Coimbatore: As summer vacation approaches, Coimbatore International Airport is experiencing a significant surge in passenger traffic for both domestic and international flights, with travelers increasingly avoiding Gulf nations due to ongoing war tensions, airport sources have revealed.

The airport, which operates direct flight services to various domestic cities including Chennai, Bengaluru, and Delhi, as well as international destinations like Sharjah and Singapore, currently handles an average of 32 flights daily. Approximately 10,000 passengers utilize the airport facilities each day.

Airport authorities report that summer vacation has triggered a continuous daily increase in passenger numbers traveling to various domestic cities and foreign countries from Coimbatore. The ongoing conflicts between Iran-Israel and Russia-Ukraine have prompted most travelers to avoid routes through Gulf nations.

Instead, a substantial number of people from Coimbatore and surrounding districts are increasingly choosing to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Bangkok. This shift represents a significant change in travel patterns compared to previous years.

"What was once considered financially prohibitive for many families has now become accessible," airport sources explained. Various tour operators are now offering affordable travel packages to multiple foreign destinations, catering to diverse segments of travelers. These budget-friendly options have democratized international travel, making it viable for both urban and rural populations.

The availability of discounted tour packages from numerous companies has resulted in year-on-year growth in the number of people from both urban and rural areas embarking on international vacations during holiday periods. This trend extends beyond domestic destinations to encompass various foreign countries.

Airport authorities anticipate that passenger traffic will continue to rise throughout May as the summer vacation period extends through the entire month. The combination of affordable travel options and strategic destination choices avoiding conflict zones is reshaping Coimbatore's outbound tourism landscape this summer season.
