Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 57 Feet, Thirumoorthy Dam Records 34 Feet

Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur district has recorded a water level of 57.12 feet due to continuous inflow, while Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 33.92 feet. Water Resources Department officials announced the levels as of August 20, bringing relief to irrigation and drinking water needs.

Coimbatore: The major reservoirs in Tiruppur district, Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams, have witnessed rising water levels due to continuous inflow. Water Resources Department officials released the water level details of both dams as of August 20.

Amaravathi Dam, located in Tiruppur district, has a full capacity of 90 feet. The dam has been receiving continuous inflow from its catchment areas, resulting in the current water level reaching 57.12 feet. This represents a significant portion of the dam's total storage capacity.

Water Resources Department officials stated that Amaravathi Dam is receiving an inflow of 202 cubic feet per second. Notably, no water is currently being released from the dam, allowing the reservoir to build up its storage for future needs.

Thirumoorthy Dam, situated near Udumalpet in Tiruppur district, has a full capacity of 60 feet. The dam's catchment areas are also receiving continuous inflow. According to current reports, Thirumoorthy Dam's water level stands at 33.92 feet.

Water Resources Department officials informed that water is being released from Thirumoorthy Dam at a rate of 21 cubic feet per second. The rising water levels in both reservoirs bring positive news for the region's agricultural and drinking water requirements.

If rainfall continues in the catchment areas, the water levels in both dams are expected to rise further in the coming days. Water Resources Department officials are continuously monitoring the water levels in both reservoirs to manage the resources effectively.
