Coimbatore: The Association of Self-Financing Arts, Science & Management Colleges of Tamil Nadu (ASFASMTN) is organizing a comprehensive food safety training workshop in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The programme is scheduled for August 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore.
The initiative comes in response to growing concerns about food safety, hygiene and quality standards in college canteens and hostels across educational institutions. Recent incidents affecting student health and well-being have underscored the urgent need for proper food-handling practices and strict compliance with food safety regulations.
The FSSAI Awareness Programme and FoSTaC Training Workshop has been specifically designed for college administrators, principals, canteen managers, in-charges and supervisors. The session aims to strengthen awareness and ensure compliance with food safety standards across self-financing educational institutions in the state.
The comprehensive training programme will cover multiple critical areas including food safety and hygiene protocols, FSSAI rules and regulations, safe food handling techniques, canteen hygiene management, food safety compliance requirements and FoSTaC certification procedures. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of food safety practices and regulatory requirements essential for maintaining high standards in educational institution food services.
Upon successful completion of the training session, participants will receive FoSTaC Certificates, adding formal recognition to their food safety knowledge. The association has limited participation to a maximum of two representatives from each institution to ensure effective learning and interaction.
