Minister Sampathkumar Inaugurates ₹2.65 Crore Drainage Work and Bamboo Park in Coimbatore

Backward Classes Welfare Minister V Sampathkumar laid the foundation for rainwater drainage construction in Central Zone and inaugurated a 4.26-acre bamboo park in East Zone of Coimbatore Corporation, developed at a cost of ₹2.36 crore, totaling ₹2.65 crore worth of development projects for public use.


Coimbatore: Backward Classes Welfare Minister V Sampathkumar today (01.08.2026) laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth ₹2.65 crore for public use in Coimbatore Corporation areas.

The Minister launched the rainwater drainage construction work at Sanganur, Thandalraman Street area under Ward No. 32 of the Central Zone, executed under Corporation general funds at an estimated cost of ₹29.50 lakh. He instructed the concerned officials to complete the works expeditiously.



Subsequently, he inaugurated the bamboo park developed for public use in Singanalur, SIHS Colony, Kaveri Nagar area under Ward No. 55 of the East Zone. The park, spread across approximately 4.26 acres, was constructed at a cost of ₹2.36 crore under Corporation general funds.



District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar IAS, Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja IAS, and Singanalur MLA KS Sreekiri Prasad presided over the event.

The inaugurated bamboo park features basic amenities including walkways, yoga practice facilities, open-air auditorium, drinking water distribution area, outdoor exercise facilities, and toilets. Minister V Sampathkumar inspected the park and planted saplings.



East Zone Chairman Ilakumi Ilanchelvi Karthik, Deputy City Engineer Ezhil, Assistant Commissioner Dakshinamoorthy, Executive Engineer Yogasithra, Assistant Executive Engineers Saravanakumar and Elangovan, Councillors Parthiban and Dharmaraj, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, Assistant Engineers Kumaresan and Rajarajeswaran, Health Inspectors Jeganathan, Naveenkumar, and Jerald Sathya Puniathan, along with other Corporation officials, were present.

Minister V Sampathkumar appealed to the public to benefit from these development projects.
