MP Ganapathy Rajkumar and Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja Inspect Rs 241 Crore Development Projects in Coimbatore

Coimbatore MP Ganapathy P Rajkumar and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja IAS inspected Rs 241 crore worth development projects across North and Central zones including Semmozhippunga landscaping, public toilet construction under Swachh Bharat, and school infrastructure. Officials were instructed to expedite the works.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Member of Parliament Ganapathy P Rajkumar and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja IAS conducted a comprehensive inspection of various development projects worth Rs 241 crore being undertaken in the North and Central zones of Coimbatore Corporation. During the visit, they instructed officials to expedite the completion of these works.



During today's (08.07.2026) inspection, the MP and Commissioner reviewed the construction of an entrance gate and stage platform worth Rs 18 lakh at the Corporation Primary School in Ganapathy area under Ward No. 30 in the North Zone. The project is being funded through the Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.



In the Central Zone, they inspected the botanical landscape setup works worth Rs 198 crore being undertaken from Corporation general funds at Semmozhippunga in Ward No. 67. They also visited Ward No. 83 where a public toilet construction project worth Rs 25 lakh is underway under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Earlier, Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja visited the playground at IOB Colony under Ward No. 38 in the West Zone and instructed concerned officials to prepare project estimates for the renovation of the sports ground.



Subsequently, the Commissioner inspected the operations of a Manhole Desilting Machine at the Ramanathapuram 80 feet road area under Ward No. 63 in the Central Zone. Officials explained that the machine is designed to quickly and easily clean blockages, accumulated sludge, silt, and waste from sewage manhole systems.

Officials stated, "By using these Manhole De-silting Machines, we can completely avoid the practice of manual scavenging, ensure the safety of workers, and maintain the city's sewage drainage system more efficiently."

Corporation Works Committee Chairman Shanthimurugan, Assistant Commissioners Narmatha and Dakshinamurthy, Assistant Executive Engineers Savitha and Sathyamurthy, Assistant Town Planner Mahendran, Assistant Engineers Vanathi, Subasree, Sakthivel, Kamalakannan, Pragadeeshwaran, and Sathishkumar, Health Inspector Jayaparvathi, and several other Corporation officials participated in the inspection.
