Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy Dams Water Level Status as on July 6, 2026

Amaravathi Dam in Tirupur district recorded a water level of 43.44 feet on July 6. Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 38.23 feet. Water inflow has increased to both dams due to continuous rainfall. Water Resources Department officials released the details.


Coimbatore: The water levels at Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams, two major reservoirs in Tirupur district, have risen considerably due to continuous rainfall in their catchment areas. Water Resources Department officials have released the water level details of both dams as on July 6, 2026.




Amaravathi Dam, located in Tirupur district, has a full storage capacity of 90 feet. Water inflow to the dam has been increasing steadily due to continuous rainfall in its catchment areas. As per the latest report on July 6, the water level at the dam has risen to 43.44 feet.




Currently, Amaravathi Dam is receiving an inflow of 1,279 cubic feet per second. Simultaneously, 30 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam for irrigation purposes, Water Resources Department officials informed.




Thirumoorthy Dam, situated near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district, has a storage capacity of 60 feet. The catchment areas of this dam have also been receiving continuous rainfall, resulting in increased water inflow. As on July 6, the water level at Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 38.23 feet.




Thirumoorthy Dam is currently receiving an inflow of 398 cubic feet per second. At the same time, 994 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam for irrigation needs in the downstream areas, Water Resources Department officials stated.




With the southwest monsoon season underway, water levels in both dams are gradually rising. This is welcome news for farmers and drinking water requirements in the region. Water Resources Department officials are continuously monitoring the water level situation at both dams and providing regular updates to ensure proper water management during this crucial season.
