The deceased has been identified as a native of Odisha, and police have launched an intensive search for her allegedly absconding husband, who is suspected to be connected to the case.

Coimbatore: Police have identified the woman whose partially decomposed body was found in an isolated area under the Madukkarai police limits in Coimbatore district on June 24 and have intensified the search for her allegedly absconding husband.

The woman, who was initially unidentified, was found in a semi-naked state inside thorny bushes near a private college on MGR Nagar Road in the Manjappallam North area of Kovai Pudur. The body was discovered around 10.40 a.m. by residents of Arivoli Nagar and was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Police said a post-mortem examination reportedly revealed no signs of physical assault or visible external injuries. As part of the investigation, officers publicised the woman's identifying features, including tattoos on her hands and the footwear recovered from the scene, and appealed to the public for assistance in establishing her identity.

According to the latest investigation, the deceased has been identified as Parsha, a native of Odisha. Police said she had been residing with her husband, Jaganath, in Eswar Nagar near Kovai Pudur.

Investigators found that the couple were working in the construction sector with her husband working as a mason.

Police said the investigation initially encountered difficulties due to the absence of CCTV cameras in the area where the body was found. However, after identifying the woman, investigators found that her husband, Jaganath, had gone missing and that his mobile phone had been switched off. Police have intensified efforts to trace and apprehend him as part of the ongoing investigation.
