Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 38.98 Feet; Thirumoorthy Dam Records 40.46 Feet

Water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams in Tirupur district continue to rise steadily. As of July 3, Amaravathi dam recorded 38.98 feet while Thirumoorthy dam stood at 40.46 feet. Water Resources Department officials have released the detailed storage information for both reservoirs.


Coimbatore: Water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams in Tirupur district are witnessing a steady rise due to continuous inflow from their respective catchment areas. Water Resources Department officials have released the water level details of both dams as of July 3.

Amaravathi dam, located in Tirupur district, has a total storage capacity of 90 feet. With continuous inflow from catchment areas, the water level has risen to 38.98 feet as of July 3, according to the latest update.


The dam is receiving an inflow of 234 cubic feet per second. Water Resources Department officials stated that 30 cubic feet per second is being released from the dam for agricultural and drinking water requirements.


Similarly, Thirumoorthy dam, situated near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district, has a storage capacity of 60 feet. Due to continuous inflow from catchment areas, the water level stands at 40.46 feet as of July 3.


Thirumoorthy dam is receiving an inflow of 382 cubic feet per second. Officials from the Water Resources Department informed that 370 cubic feet per second is being discharged from the dam. Further increase in water inflow is expected during the southwest monsoon season.
