Kovai Kutralam Closed for a Day as Heavy Rains Trigger Flooding

The Forest Department has temporarily closed the Kovai Kutralam Eco Tourism Centre for one day (July 3) after heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats caused a surge in water flow and flooding at the waterfall.


Coimbatore: The Forest Department has temporarily closed the Kovai Kutralam Eco Tourism Centre for today (July 3) after continuous heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats triggered flooding at the Kovai Kutralam waterfall.

According to the Forest Department, persistent rainfall over the past few days has significantly increased the inflow of water into the waterfall, resulting in strong currents and flood-like conditions in the area.

In view of public safety, the Boluvampatti Forest Range Officer announced that the Kovai Kutralam Eco Tourism Centre will remain closed on July 3, 2026.

The department has advised tourists and the public to avoid visiting the waterfall until further notice and to cooperate with the safety instructions issued by the Forest Department.

Officials said the rainfall and water flow are being continuously monitored and that the eco-tourism centre will be reopened once the situation returns to normal.
